PhD project

"Wallpapered Wall History(s) on German Coasts. The study of historical picture-and panorama wallpapers from 1770 to 1870, using selected examples in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western-Pomerania"

In the dissertation, the degree of distribution of picture wallpapers on canvas, French panorama wallpapers on paper, Chinese, large-format wallpapers on paper and silk as well as previously unknown large-format wallpapers in the period from 1730 to 1870 in mansions, castles, merchants' houses, farmhouses and villas as well as historical buildings in the regions of Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania will be researched using selected examples and finds. The large time frame has been chosen due to the difficult situation of finding historical wallpapers. This dissertation will also include an overview- catalogue of the find sites in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western-Pomerania so that these fragile     art-historically valuable objects are not lost or forgotten.
